Dr Manoj Mathew

Dr Manoj Mathew is a Queensland trained Orthopaedic Surgeon. Prior to moving to Australia, he had undertaken Orthopaedic training at one of India’s premier National Institutes (PGIMER).

Upon moving to Australia, he also undertook the full 5-year Australian Orthopaedic training programme at the Cairns Base Hospital, Gold Coast Hospital, Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, The Royal Children’s Hospital and The Prince Charles Hospital.

​After obtaining his Australian fellowship (FRACS), he travelled to Canada to undertake a year of advanced surgical training at the renowned  Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Centre (University of Western Ontario, Canada), specialising in the treatment of joint and ligament injuries including that of high-level varsity and national athletes. The Training included advanced techniques in the treatment of Sports injuries, joint cartilage surgeries, ligament reconstruction surgeries and joint preservation procedures.

He currently holds a public appointment at the Prince Charles Hospital. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland. He has a keen interest in research and the application of current and evolving techniques to patient care. His research has been published in peer reviewed international journals.

  • Jo Long
    Practice Manager

    Jo has worked as a medical receptionist for 8 years and then as a practice manager for a further 9 years. She is very happy and proud to work alongside Dr Mathew and thoroughly enjoys her job. Jo particularly loves interacting and supporting their patients in any way she can to ensure each patient feels valued, and their experience within the practice proceeds and progresses as smooth as possible.

  • Sharelle Rippingale
    Physiotherapist

    Sharelle has over 25 years of experience as a physiotherapist in private practice, community health, acute hospital and rehabilitation settings. After graduating from the University of Sydney, she worked at Royal North Shore Hospital gaining valuable experience with acute orthopaedic injuries and post surgical rehabilitation. She spent some time working as a physiotherapist in London before moving into private practice in Melbourne, where she also completed postgraduate qualifications in Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy and Exercise and Women’s Health at the University of Melbourne. Sharelle established Optimal Recovery Physiotherapy when she relocated to the North Lakes area in 2019, as she is passionate about helping her clients achieve the best possible outcome following injury or surgery. She supports the team approach fostered by Dr Manoj Mathew and ensures that his clients have access to hydrotherapy, exercise physiology and gym programs where appropriate.

    Sharelle is trained in Advanced Dry Needling, APPI Matwork and Equipment Clinical Pilates and is a certified GLA:D Australia Physiotherapist, member of the Australian Physiotherapy Association, Continence Foundation of Australia, and National Groups for  Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy, Sports and Exercise Physiotherapy, Acupuncture & Dry Needling, and Women’s, Men’s and Pelvic Health.

    My name is Ethan and I am excited to be part of the team here at Lakes Medical Specialists as a new graduate physiotherapist. I graduated from Griffith University at the end of 2022 and have been working as a hydrotherapy assistant for the last 18 months. I am looking forward to bringing what I have learnt onboard here to the rooms and gaining more experience by working closely with Dr Mathew and Sharelle.
